The passion and desire to write that lies within me had to have been deposited in me at birth; a gift given to me. Looking back on my child hood I recall my dad reading the daily newspaper and bible daily, my mom read a lot of novels. I remember being drawn to books like Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys...yep, aging myself here:), loved western novels and gravitated towards collecting and exchanging comic books. Archie, western and war comics were my thing back then.
I read a lot as a kid and teen because we did not own a TV; the radio was our source of being connected with the outside world; a world without pictures or images to influence a mind for the good or bad. There were no icon as it were to look up to; except for what I read.
I am actually glad I did not grow up with access to TV; I didn't think; actually I know I didn't miss much by being without the tube.
As much as I read back then I journal; it became a daily occurrence and it became my getaway place; a place where I could not only express my feelings, but a place to dream and make them come alive some what on paper. Thus grew or awakened my gift or passion to write. Sometimes I would only need a word, or observe a scene, people watch, listen and therein would flow a story, a article, a life lesson and so fort.
As the way things are we all know there is no steady flow of life, things doesn't always remain the same. With the ups and downs of life so has my writing been, but over the past 6 months the itch and drive has become more intense. This is due in part to encouragement I've been receiving from my partner. The constant deposit of rich words and actions to get me re-focused has paid off.
There's something about having the right words blow into your direction, to hear, to listen and eventually those words come to life. Yeah, they do! You know it's so because the effect of the words that were patiently and persistently spoken has bought me to this place.
We all have something to say, but sometimes we don't say it right, sometimes we don't say it at all and then sometimes we miss it all together. This is just an example of the message I want to share; listen if you have a passion go after it, don't stop till you're living it, enjoying it. I started this article knowing I wanted to write, but wasn't sure what and where it would go, so I titled it "write anyway".
If it's healthy then stay the course and stay strong.
